The policy brief is a response to the recommendation of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) that children of all ages should be present in court for each hearing in child protection proceedings. The paper makes recommendations as to when it is appropriate for children to attend court hearings and what accommodations should be made to minimize stress.
